Movements that come and go as the sea waves, as you are drifting away. In Lomi Lomi Nui we use forearms, long, flowing, dance-like strokes, often using the forearms and generous amounts of oil! Gentle stretches and joint rotations are also common.
The physical benefits of this massage are the same as other types of massage in terms of relaxing muscles, promoting circulation and releasing blocked energy. The difference lies in the Hawaiian traditions woven into the massage, including the belief that "loving hands" help you release not only physical tension but also mental, emotional and spiritual blockages ...
''The Barefoot Islander''
30' Half Body Massage
This style of barefoot massage is performed on a floor mat, with the client clothed. Fijian Massage incorporates specific, deep pressure followed by a vigorous jostle movement to the larger muscle groups while working with intensity by using our strong toes and bony aspects of our feet to create simple, rhythmic stroke repetitions.
Often times the therapist will find themselves seated in a chair or the floor while providing strokes. The use of overhead bars is not required – but a body bolstering/cushioning system is. We may stabilize our balance with the Ashi-Strap, a chair, or any other balancing tools such as a bamboo staff rather than bars... Enjoy the barefoot Islander!!!
